Government is about people yes, but people in a place. Our constitutional democracy began when there were thirteen colonies, where people knew from whence they sprung, and were willing to fight and thereafter legislate the issues of the day. Today with a continental, imperial, 'superpower' America from sea to shining sea, composed of its 48 contiguous states, and a burgeoning immigrant driven population, with the ubiquitous 24/7 social media, the sense of where one is, the local but more importantly the greater regional spirit of a place is elusive, and yet is crux of what matters in our everyday lives, the source of who we are; even though economies and militaries of scale have utterly disrupted our self-governing ethos as we've gained the world but lost our soul. So reimagining our republic in all the granular discernment this article posits needs also to focus on HOMEPLACE the ground under our feet from which and by which we live and take our being, that our dreams from the night can return to steer us into our day, for a world in tune with the soul.

It is impossible to fix our fully corrupted system with the tools given to us - voting, etc.

We can build a bunch of new systems though and we don’t need anyone’s permission. For example we could build a network state - a digital country of sort - that has a code like you describe.

Or we can gather and discuss a code that includes everyone.

People fear network states - as they should - because of the one in China or the one they are making here in America with Palantir.

But we can build ones that do good too.

If there was a new network country with a code like this, would you want to be part of it?

We disavow politics and only look to solve problems

We value trust, so we verify

We continuously make the systems we use harder and harder to corrupt

We seek truth through evidence, past iteration, and trial and error

We look to make decisions based on metrics, results, and desired outcomes

We clearly define all words when making rules

We have a code

We set boundaries with consequences

We agree to protect individual rights

We are forgiving to those who deserve it or earn it

We seek to build trust and opportunities with each other

We seek health and wellness for all

Skin in the game matters

We define and adhere to natural law

We respect individual freedom

We seek purpose

We agree to work to solve problems together in good faith whenever we participate

We disavow labels for people when solving problems unless they are absolutely needed because of the dangers they pose to group problem solving.

We have safety nets for those who need them whenever possible

We set boundaries so those safety nets are not abused

And we can run the systems decentralized and transparent using collective “swarm” intelligence systems. Like this:
