I'm impressed that Ms. Williams took months to reply. "What are you willing to die for?" is not a question we should have an immediate answer to.

In my opinion, the question should be rephrased "What are you willing to risk your life for?" as I'm not willing to throw away my life for any specific thing. But like Ms. Williams, I'm willing to risk my life for free speech! Or perhaps more generally "freedom".

It is intolerable to live in a society where tyrants tell us how we must live. Of course we must all talk with each other and come to agreements and compromise as freedom is never unlimited, freedom is always limited by respect for your neighbor. Free speech is the foundation of that, providing us with the ability to express our disagreements.
