Welcome to The Common Sense Papers
The Common Sense Papers offer a series of political essays about the proposed creation of a new political movement for citizens to bypass the dysfunctional two-party duopoly and reboot the American political system, as well as our economic operating system, in hopeful ways for American democracy. Created as a pitchbook, the essays use modern language to mimic elements of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense (1776) and The Federalist Papers (1788) to explain:
How citizens can create a movement to revitalize the proper working of the federal government for all Americans
How to move beyond polarization and disillusionment in a way that can bring healing to American political life
How a Citizens’ Agenda can be created to guide national reforms
How to create a political superstructure that can launch a united bloc of Independent, third-party, and select major-party candidates into Congress
A Common Sense reform movement needs to be democratic, citizen-led, member-funded, transparent, capable of healing political divisions and unifying Americans, and free from corporate interest groups. It must promote liberty and dignity for all!
The Common Sense Papers are an offering by Common Sense 250.
